A Gentle 2-Hour Introduction to Watercolor by award-winning Watercolorist; Tina Williams
Discover the magic of water + pigment (and why less is often more). In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the core watercolor techniques and leave with a small finished piece and the confidence to keep painting at home. Total beginners and “it’s-been-years” dabblers. No drawing experience needed—promise!
You’ll learn
- How to choose & hold brushes (and when to switch sizes)
- Water-to-paint ratios (transparent vs. juicy vs. inky)
- Flat & graded washes, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry
- Soft blends, dry-brush texture, and lifting highlights
- Simple color mixing (how not to make mud)
- A mini project: loose florals or a tiny landscape (your pick)
What’s included
All supplies provided (paper, paints, palettes, professional brushes). Step-by-step demos, take-home reference sheet, and lots of friendly coaching. Please don’t bring outside supplies so we’re all on the same page.
What you’ll take home
- A finished 5×7 mini painting (florals or landscape)
- A technique “swatch sheet” you can reference later
- New skills and the confidence to keep going!
Helpful info
- Ages 12+; minors must attend with a paying adult.
- Please arrive a few minutes early to get settled. We start right on time to maximize the entire class!
- Photos may be taken during class.

Please check your schedule before buying a class. There are indisputable fees associated with cancellations for any reason. Our tickets are always transferable.
Class Cancellation Policy
Class cancellations up to 48 hours prior to the event will receive either a credit towards a future class OR a refund minus a 15% cancellation fee
Class no-shows or cancellations, for any reason, with less than 48 hours notice will not be refunded or credited.
Multi-Week Classes-You will not be eligible for a refund if you miss a class or classes during a multi-week session. Multi-week classes are nonfundable.
Weather: We determine our cancellations based on the weather in Portsmouth. If we decide to cancel a class due to weather, we will email all attendees at least 2 hours before the start of class. If you do not hear from us, the class will proceed on time. If the class is cancelled due to weather. We will offer a make-up date. If you can not attend the make-up class, we will happily return your money, or you may keep it as an ArtSpot credit.
Camp Cancellation Policy
Cancellations up to 7 days prior to the start date of a camp session will receive either a credit towards a future camp session OR a refund minus a 20% cancellation fee.
Cancellations made within 1 week of a camp session start date will receive a credit towards a future camp session.
Camp cancellations within 72 hours /no-shows will not be refunded or credited.
All tickets are transferable. Please note that if the minimum number of participants has not been met for any classes, they may be canceled or rescheduled. In this case, alternative class times may be offered, or registration fees will be fully refunded. All tickets are transferable.
