A fantastic way to display your keepsakes: have it standing up to show off your artwork or lay it down and let the pages tell a story in themselves.
In this workshop, students will build a hard-backed accordion-style book and collage the pages into their own story. This is a unique, alternative construction to the usual accordion book. Construction of a (potentially limitless) book, the concepts and techniques of collage is what will really be highlighted in this workshop. Participants will explore the beauty and the uses of juicy ephemera, vintage photos, unique stamping methods along with the techniques of composing collages. There is much to explore in the small but mighty Concertina Book.
It’s always a good idea to think about who you this Concertina Book might be for… will it be for inspirational quotes and pages to keep? will it be a baby book? maybe for someone’s birthday?
All materials provided for this workshop but participants are always encouraged to bring personal items to make their piece exclusively unique. They can be flat or 3-d, examples include: old family photos, pages from an old notebook, grandma’s needle book, a child’s drawings, a special letter with a lovely envelope, ribbon from a memorable present…
What begins as blank pages becomes an incredible creation and storytelling art piece.
